A morning visit to the lovely Georgian town of Stamford. The narrow alleyways and cobbled courtyards provide an atmosphere full of character. It is famous for its independent shops, wonderful architecture and the River Welland which flows through water meadows in the centre of town. In the afternoon we make our way to Rutland Water for a tranquil afternoon. Rutland is a large horseshoe-shaped reservoir set within three thousand acres of beautiful countryside. Normanton Church is located on the shore of the reservoir and appears to float on the lake when its full. You can spend time in Waterside Café, a delightful spot to relax and enjoy a meal or coffee while taking in the beautiful views of the lake.
