Day 1 Begin your journey north with a leisurely drive, pausing for a brief refreshment break before continuing to the Tickled Trout hotel in Lancashire, aiming to arrive late afternoon, to check in and relax.
Day 2 Today, embark on a fully guided exploration of the Ribble Valley, a hidden gem known for its picturesque villages and history. Visit the village of Whalley, where you’ll step back in time on a short walking tour through a settlement with 2000 years of history. For lunch, savour a delightful meal at the Calf ’s Head in Worston, featuring a comforting soup and sandwich, a glass of local ale and tea/coffee. Afterwards we explore the Duchy of Lancaster estate, owned by His Majesty the King, and meander through the scenic Hodder Valley.
Day 3 It’s off to the bustling market town of Skipton, where you’ll have free time to explore the quaint streets. Next, embark on a serene cruise along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. As you glide along the historic waterway, enjoy humorous and informative commentary that brings its history to life. Later, journey to the ancient market town of Clitheroe, renowned for its plethora of specialist shops and the imposing 12th century Norman Castle that towers over the town..
Day 4 Delve into the eerie history of ‘Pendle Witches’ country with the guidance of a knowledgeable guide. Discover the haunting tales of local women accused of witchcraft and put on trial in the 15th century and sculpture trail. Your journey into the past continues with a visit to Samlesbury Hall, a medieval half-timbered house steeped in turbulent history and known as one of the Britain’s most haunted locations.
Day 5 As your memorable journey comes to an end, we bid farewell to Lancashire and begin the journey home via Litchfield, a hidden gem in the heart of the country. Enjoy some free time to explore the charming streets, stunning cathedral, and hidden gems.
